I am opening a limited number of spaces for custom character portrait commissions.

Commission Price: USD $180

This includes one custom black-and-white head portrait, one round of minor revisions and an Exclusive Commercial Licence for the finished artwork.

Please read the information below carefully before contacting me, particularly the requirements regarding your reference image.

What You Will Receive

This commission is for one custom black-and-white head portrait, created in my existing illustration style.

Your commission includes an Exclusive Commercial Licence, allowing you to use your finished portrait commercially in connection with your books, characters and author brand.

This includes use:

• on ebook, paperback and hardcover book covers
• inside books, including special editions, character guides, bonus content and interior illustrations
• in commercially sold books, including standard and special editions
• on your website, blog, newsletter and social media
• in book advertising, promotional graphics and marketing materials
• in digital reader magnets and other promotional content connected with your books or author brand
• on promotional items such as bookmarks, postcards and banners where those items are given away rather than sold

You may also crop, resize, recolour, add text or incorporate the finished portrait into larger authorised designs.

Physical merchandise featuring the artwork that is sold separately, included as a paid extra, or included within a commercial book box or merchandise package requires an Extended Commercial Licence.

This is a head portrait only. It does not include a body, clothing, hands, additional characters, animals, props or a detailed background unless specifically agreed upon before purchase.

Please look through the examples of my existing portraits before enquiring. Your finished portrait will be created using the same artistic process and style, so there will naturally be some differences between your reference photograph and the finished illustration.

Your Reference Image

You will need to provide a clear reference image showing the face, exact head pose and facial angle you would like me to draw.

The pose and facial angle shown in your reference image will be the pose and angle used for your finished portrait.

For example, if you provide a side-profile photograph, your finished portrait will also be drawn in side profile. I cannot use a side-profile reference and redraw the character facing forward or significantly change the position or angle of the head.

Please choose your reference carefully and make sure it already shows the pose, facial angle, general expression and overall facial appearance you would like.

Please also choose a reference where you are already happy with the overall facial features. These commissions do not include creating a new face by combining features from multiple references or making substantial changes to individual facial features.

Your finished portrait will not be an exact copy of the photograph. My drawing process naturally interprets and changes certain features, details and proportions, and your portrait will reflect my established artistic style.

Reference Approval

Your reference image must be approved by me before you purchase a commission.

This allows me to make sure the image is suitable for my illustration process and can be recreated within the scope of the commission.

Once your reference has been approved and a commission space is available, I will send you the purchase link.

Revisions

Your commission includes one round of minor revisions once the portrait is complete.

Minor revisions may include small adjustments to facial details, hair or other minor elements of the portrait.

The included revision does not cover a complete redraw, changing the reference image, changing the pose or facial angle, changing the character, creating a new face from multiple references, or substantially changing the original brief.

Any substantial changes requested after work has begun may incur an additional fee or may not be possible.

If You Are Not Happy With Your Portrait

I want you to be happy with your finished portrait.

If, after the included round of minor revisions, you are still not happy with the final artwork, I will provide you with a full refund.

In this situation, you will not receive the finished artwork and the Exclusive Commercial Licence will not take effect.

The artwork will remain mine and, where the rights and permissions associated with your supplied reference image allow, I may adapt, display, licence or offer the portrait for sale through my store or other sales channels.

Before Contacting Me

Please download and carefully read the Custom Portrait Agreement available as a free download below before contacting me about a commission.

It contains important information regarding your reference image, image permissions, revisions, refunds, copyright, licensing and use of the completed artwork.

You will be required to sign and return the agreement before I begin work on your portrait.

Please attach the reference image you would like me to use.

I will review your image and let you know whether it is suitable. If it is approved and a commission space is available, I will send you the private purchase link.

Once payment has been received and your signed Custom Portrait Agreement has been returned, I can begin your commission.
